Article by Larpi Solof:
A Gamespy executive was recently quoted. “We at gamespy believe it is time that users of our highly popular online game listing service start supporting it financially.” He went on to say that their technicians have figured out a way to attach an account system to allow game servers to be listed. He didn’t volunteer what the cost will be but when pressed he said there will be a trial period with the fee being $30 USD per month. When asked if he thought this would drive away users of the service, he commented, “Possibly but the truly dedicated gamers and server admins will pay.”

I'm guessing that they assume that all gamers have money to burn when they're probably lucky to buy their favorite game...

I skimmed it the first time myself, thinking it was for real, and only noticed the date after getting confused by the "laughter".
