Greets all!

I have a problem, and don't know how to repair. When in freelancer, I get a *nonstop* (*=emphasis added) error msg sayin in my speakers \"system error ppnpack\", or something like that...my best interpatation on what I am hearing. It now has popped it's little head up in my Descent 3 game, although it only happens off and on. It also has shown up in my browser, playin only off and on. WTHeck is going on?! What does it mean? how do I get rid of it? It is now to the point that I can't play FL at all, because it kicks in at the main menu. :? :? :x :x

HELP!!

download the newest virus/spyware scanner of your choice (and run it).
check windows sound events.
check back if it still happens.

@ Ferno-
This is on my PC, Win XP Pro.

@ Floyd-
Windows sound event? Huh? I am a noob w/Windows, you'll have to be a little bit more specific.

@ Merlin-
Where do I get these \"Sound Drivers\"...course that assumming that a reload of those drivers would help...

Update:
As an experiment, I launched my other games I have installed, and this is what I found:

Games that I hear it in:
AA
D 1,2,3
Freelancer
Halo

Games that I don't hear it in:
Starcraft

It has been suggested to me that it could be a router issue, but I have no way to prove it... As of the time of this post, I'm running what anti-spyware/virus apps I have.

Any other suggestions?

Fus

Start -> Adjustments -> System Controls -> Sounds & Multimedia -> Sounds

Floyd,

TY for suggestion, and more detailed directions, however....
your suggestion didn't repair the issue. :( I even d/l'ed some audio driver updates from my mobo's maker. (ASUS) I have reloaded the Freelancer game, the SDK, and activated the mod we are playing, and yet it continues...
It has been suggested to me that I should purchase a sound card(audio out is on mobo, ATM) and see if that helps..but I dunno if that would do any good :? :? :?

Short of a reload of Windows and all my games and their related apps, any other suggestions out there?
